so

Now use those two equations to solve

So there are 14 nickle.s Which means there must be 52-14=38 dimes
Does 3.80 in dimes + 70 cents in nicles equal 4.50?

let nickels be x
dimes will be 52-x

5x+10(52-x)=450
5x+520-10x=450
-5x=-70
x=14 nickels
dimes = 52-14 = 38

38*10+5*14= 450
