"three more dimes that nickels" ___ d = n + 3
"four fewer quarters than nickels" ___ q = n - 4
"total value of the coins was $4.10" ___ 5n + 10d + 25q = 410
substituting ___ 5n + 10(n + 3) + 25(n - 4) = 410 ___ 5n + 10n + 30 + 25n - 100 = 410
40n = 480 ___ n = 12
d = (12) + 3 = 15
q = (12) - 4 = 8
