Question 30445: Victoria has 88 coins consisting of nickels, dimes, and quarters. The number of dimes is 2 less than twice the number of nickles. The number of quarters is 6 more than 4 times the number of nickles. How many nickles does Victoria have?

Answer by Paul(988)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Nickels = x
Quarters = 4x+6
Dimes 2x-2
Equation:
(x)+(4x+6)+(2x-2)=88
7x+4=88
7x=84
x=12

4(12)+6=54
2(12)-2=22
Hence, there are 12 nickels, 54 quarters and 22 dimes.
