Question 24323: Anthony has $1.60 in nickels and quarters. If there are 3 times as many quarters as nickels, how many of each type of coin does he have?
Answer by Paul(988)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Nickels = x
Quarters = 3x

Quarter value = 25
Nickel value = 5
Total = 160

25(3x)+5x=160
75x+5x=160
80x=160
x=2

3(2)=6

Hence there are 6 quarters and 2 nickels.
