I cant figure out how to solve this. We have to make some type of chart with it too, and work it out with a certain eqaution. But I have no idea what to do.
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Bill has 4 times as many quarters as dimes in all he has is 2 dollars and twenty cents how many coins each of type does he have?
-----------------------
Let # of dimes be "x" ; value is 10x cents
Then # of quarters is "4x"; value is 25*4x = 100x cents
---------------------------
Value Equation:
value + value = value
10x+100x =220 cents
110x = 220
x = 2 (# of dimes)
4x = 8 (# of quarters)
