n + q = 52
3n=q
substitute;
n + 3n =52
4n=52
n=13
13+q=52
q=39
so he has 13 nickels and 39 quarters, now we need to find out how much money that actually is;
nickel = .05
.05(13)=.65
quarters = .25
.25(39)=9.75
9.75 + .65 = $10.40
