The coin box of the hospital's vending machine contains 6 times as many quarters as dimes. If the total amount of money at the end of the day was $28.80, how many of each coin was in the box?

The coin box of the hospital's vending machine contains 6 times as many quarters as dimes. If the total amount of money at the end of the day was $28.80, how many of each coin was in the box?
:
Let x = no. of dimes
then
6x = no. of quarters.
:
.10x + .25(6x) = 28.80
.10x + 1.5x = 28.80
1.6x = 28.80
x =
x = 18 dimes
then
6 * 18 = 108 quarters

.10(18) + .25(108) =
1.80 + 27.00 = 28.80
