Let x be the number of dimes, nickels (47-x)
5 cents! in a nickel and 10 cents! in a dime
5(47-x) + 10x = 315 cents |Using cents ...makes sense here
5x = 315 - 5*47
5x = 80
x = 16, the number of Dimes
47-16 = 31 the number of Nickels
CHECKING our answer***
16*10 + 31*5 = 160 + 155 = 315cents
