Question 1168816: A delivery boy collected P 5.35, part in 5¢ and part in 10¢ coins. If the number of 5¢ coins were 7 more than one-half the number of 10¢, how many 5¢ coins were there?
Answer by CubeyThePenguin(3113) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
N = number of 5 cent coins
D = number of 10 cent coins
N = D/2 + 7
5N + 10D = 535
Plug in the first equation into the second.
5(D/2 + 7) + 10D = 535
25D/2 = 500
D = 40
There were 40 10-cent coins and 5 cent coins.
