Question 1110875: state fair. The senior classes at High School A and High School B planned separate trips to the The senior class at High School A rented and filled 15 vans and 7 buses with 632 students. High School B rented and filled 6 vans and 6 buses with 432 students. Each van and each bus carried the same number of students. Find the number of students in each van and in each bus.
Answer by CubeyThePenguin(3113)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
v = van capacity
b = bus capacity

15v + 7b = 632
6v + 6b = 432

Multiply the first equation by 2 and the second equation by -5.

30v + 14b = 1264
-30v - 30b = -2160
----------------------
-16b = -896
b = 56

Each van can hold 16 people and each bus can hold 56 people.
