Question 1105482: If Casey has 2 times as many dimes as quarters and they have a combined value of 360 cents, how many of each coin does he have?
quarters
dimes

Answer by Edwin McCravy(20060)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Number of quarters = x

2 times as many dimes as quarters
Number of dimes = 2x

Value of quarters in cents = 25x
Value of dimes = 10(2x) or 20x

a combined value of 360 cents
25x + 20x = 360

Solve that and get the number of quartersw.

Then multiply that by 2 to find the number of dimes.
