Answer by ikleyn(52878)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.
5*N            + 10*D   + 25*Q      = 710    cents

5*(4*(x+6))    + 10*x   + 25*(x+6)  = 710

5*(4x + 24)    + 10*x   + 25x + 150 = 710

20x + 120      + 10x    + 25x + 150 = 710

55x + 270 = 710  ====>  55x = 710 - 270 = 440  ====>  x =  = 8.

Answer.  8 dimes,  8+6 = 14 quarters and  4*14 = 56  nickels.

Check.   5*56 + 8*10 + 14*25 = 710 cents.   ! Correct !
