Question 1092700: A person has four times as many nickels as dimes. If the total face value of these coins is $3.90, how many of each type of coin does this person have?

Answer by ikleyn(52797)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.
To solve this problem, group (MENTALLY) all the coins in sets containing 4 nickel and one dime each.

Each set (group) of coins then is worth 4*5+10 = 30 cents.

Hence, the number of such groups is = 13.

From this point, can you complete the solution on your own ?
