Hi there,
Make General Admission = x
and Reserved seats = y
x + y = 1140.......Eq(1)
250x + 550y = 3702...Eq(2) (Change price of tickets into cents)( X 100)
Multiply Eq(1) by 250
250x + 250y = 285000....Eq(1)
250x + 550y = 370200....Eq(2)
Subtract Eq(2) from Eq(1)
300y = 85200
y = 284
Substitute y = 284 into Eq(1)
x + y = 1140
x + 284 = 1140
x = 1140 - 284
x = 856
x = 856 and y = 284
General admission = 856 souls
Reserved admission = 284 souls.
Hope this helps :-)
