Question 10807: Toh-toh has 83 coins worth P10.70. Some are 10 cents and the rest are 25 cents. How many of each kind does he have?
Answer by longjonsilver(2297) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let number of 10 cent coins = x
let number of 25 cent coins = y
total number of coins is 83... x+y=83
How much do the 10 cent coins add up to? well, there are x of them, each at 10 cents, so 10x
How much do the 25 cent coins add up to? well, there are y of them, each at 25 cents, so 25y
These add up to 1070cents...KEEP the same units throughout! Either all cents Or all P
--> 10x + 25y = 1070
Again, 2 equations, you solve them, my dear! :-)
