Question 1076323: I have $1 million. starting from $0, each point costs $50 more than the last. how many points can I buy?
Answer by CubeyThePenguin(3113) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
total value of n points
= 0 + 50 + ... + 50n
= 50(n)(n+1)/2
= 25(n)(n+1)
25(n)(n+1) = 1000000
n^2 + n = 40000
n^2 + n - 40000 = 0
n = -200.5, 199.5 (roughly)
You can buy up to 199 points.
