Question 1061048: in his report, the cashier of a snack bar turned a number of coins amounting to $6.25 consisting of nickels and dimes. if there were 3 times as many nickels as there were dimes, how many dimes were there?
Answer by CubeyThePenguin(3113) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
n = number of nickels
d = number of dimes
5n + 10d = 625
n = 3d
Substitute the second equation into the first.
5(3d) + 10d = 625
25d = 625
d = 25
There were 25 dimes.
