Question 1050997: A coin box contains 50cents coin and $1 coins only. the total amount is $36. There are twice as many 50cents coins as $1 coins. How many 50cents coins are there in the box?
Answer by CubeyThePenguin(3113) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
h = number of 50 cent coins
d = number of $1 coins
0.5h + d = 36
h = 2d
Substitute the second equation into the first equation.
0.5(2d) + d = 36
2d = 36
d = 18
There are 36 fifty-cent coins and 18 one-dollar coins.
