Let number of nickels be "x" ; value of these is 5x cents
----------------
Number of dimes is "x-2" ; value of these is 10(x-2) = 10x-20 cents
------------------
EQUATION:
value + value = 85 cents
5x + 10x - 20 = 85
15x = 105
x = 7 (number of nickels)
x-2 = 5 (number of dimes)
