Let x= the youngest sisters age now
x+5 = the middle sisters age now
xt10 = the oldest sisters age now
(x-6)+(x-1)+(x+4)=72
3x+3 =72
-3+3x+3 =72+-3
0+3x =69
3x =69
1/3×3x =69×1/3
x =23

Three cousins, Heather, Gena, and Jessie, were sitting around watching football on TV. The game was really boring, and so they started talking about how old they were. Heather (the oldest) noticed that they were all between 11 and 30. Jessie noticed that the sum of their ages was 70. Gena (the youngest) burst out, “Gee, if you write the square of each of our ages, all of the digits from 1 to 9 will appear exactly once in the digits of the three squares.” How old is each person? Clearly show and explain your thinking and the process you used to find their ages.

Question 545823: Hi Tutor,
I went to take an exam for an IT post today and noticed that the questions were of logic and math in nature, I assume their algebraic, I found answers for some the questions in the internet: age questions, 150 feet 50 heads mouse, cockroach and crow etc.
The help I need is not quite tutorial in nature, but of guidance, I believe I need to relearn my algebra, its been a long time. I want to be able to answer questions like the above with confidence and ease.
