Question 998051: sum of ages is 40 of two person after 10 year the age of person is twice the age of other person
Answer by fractalier(6550)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Call their ages now x and y.
Thus x + y = 40 or x = 40 - y
x + 10 = 2(y + 10)
Now substitute
40 - y + 10 = 2y + 20
50 - y = 2y + 20
30 = 3y
y = 10
x = 30
