22 years ago I was half the age I am today. What age am I today?
I'm thinking the answer is 44 but seems too simple.

Your age today:: x yrs
22 years ago:: x - 22
Equation::
x-22 = (1/2)x
------
Subtract (1/2)x from both sides to get:
(1/2)x = 22
x = 44 yrs (your age today)
