Hi there,
in 4 years, jean will be twice as old as she was 6 years ago.
J + 4 = 2(J - 6)
J + 4 = 2J - 12
Collect like terms:
J - 2J = -12 - 4
-J = -16
Multiply both sides by -1
So, J = 16
Jean is 16 years old.
Hope this helps :-)
