16 more than one-half of Dave's age is 22.25 years.
Make Dave's age = 'x'
x/2 + 16 = 22.25
x/2 = 22.25 - 16
x/2 = 6.25
Multiply both sides by 2
x = 12.5
Dave's age is 12.5 years or 12 1/2
