Hi there,
John is as old as Peter was four years ago.
J = P - 4
In two years, John's age will be eleven
more than half of Peter's age.
J + 2 = 11 + P/2 + 2
Replace J with P - 4
P - 4 + 2 = 11 + P/2 + 2
Collect like terms
P - P/2 = + 4 - 2 + 11 + 2
P/2 = 15
P = 30
John is 26 years old
Peter is 30 years old.
Hope this helps :-)
