Jessica is 6 years older than Tiffany
J = 6 + T
Ten years ago, Jessica was 3 times as old as Tiffany
J - 10 = 3(T - 10)
Replace 'J' in bottom equation with (6 + T) from top equation.
(6 + T) - 10 = 3(T - 10)
Remove brackets
6 + T - 10 = 3T - 30
Collect like terms
T - 4 = 3T - 30
T - 3T = -30 + 4
-2T = -26
T = 13
Tiffany = 13 years old
Jessica = 19 years old
