Jake is one year older than Daryl. Twice the product of their ages is 60 yrs. more than the product of their ages 5 yrs. from now. How old is each?

Jake is one year older than Daryl.

J = D+1

Twice the product of their ages is 60 yrs. more than the product of their ages
5 yrs. from now.

2JD = (J+5)(D+5) + 60

So we have this system:







Substituting J = D+1






D=-6;  D=15

Ignore the negative answer,

Daryl is 15,

Jake is one year older than Daryl.

Jake is 16.
