e = s-5
e+3 = (1/2)(s+3)

Substitute for "e" and find "s":
s-5+3 = (1/2)(s+3)
s-2 = (1/2)(s+3)
2s-4 = s+3
s = 7 (Sister's age now)

e = s-5
e = 7-5 = 2 yrs (Emily's age now)
