I= Ishaan's age; L= Luis's age
I=4L
I=L+6yrs
4L=L+6yrs
3L=6yrs
L=2yrs Luis is 2 years old
I=4L=4(2yrs)=8yrs Ishaan is 8 yrs old.

4L = L + 6 Subtract L on both sides:
3L= 6 Divide both sides by 3:
L= 2
Luis is 2 years old.
Ishaan is 2(4)= 8 years old. He is also 6 years older, 2+6= 8 We have the correct answer.
