P=Pablo's age; E=Elmer's age=P+25
E+15=2(P+15) Substitute for E
P+25+15=2P+30
P+40=2P+30 Subtract P+30 from each side.
10=P ANSWER 1: Pablo is 10 years old
E=P+25=10+25=35 ANSWER 2: Elmer is 35 years old
CHECK
E+15=2(P+15)
35+15=2(10+15)
50=2(25)
50=50
