Answer by macston(5194) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
P=Phil's age; F=Father's age
F=P+25
F+10=2(P+10)
F+10=2P+20 Subtract 10 from each side
F=2P+10 Substitute for F in first equation
2P+10=P+25 Subtract 10 from each side
2P=P+15 Subtract P from each side
P=15 ANSWER 1 Phil is 15 years old
F=P+25=15+25=40 ANSWER 2 Father is 40 years old
CHECK
In 10 years, father will be twice Phil's age
In 10 years, father will be 50 and Phil will be 25, and 2(25)=50 so this checks
