7P + 4K = 111 years (sum of 7 Paul and 4 Kent= 111)
4P - 1 = K (Kent's age is 4 times Paul's -1)
Substitute for K in first equation and solve for P:
7P + 4(4P-1)=111 years
7P + 16P -4=111 years
23P-4=111 years
23P=115 years
P=5 years ANSWER 1 Paul's Age
Find Kent's age:
K=4P-1
K=4(5 years)-1
K=20 years-1=19 years ANSWER 2 Kent's Age
