let age of son be x years
age of man is 7*x years
after 8 years , son's age will be x+8
after 8 years , man's age will be 7x+8

In 8 years he will be only three times as old as his son
hence
7x+8 = 3*(x+8)
7x+8 = 3x+3*8
7x+8 = 3x+24
move 3x to the left
7x+8-3x= 24
7x-3x+8 = 24
4x+8 =24
move 8 to the right
4x = 24-8
4x = 16
divide with 4 on both sides

x= 4
age of son (x)= 4 years
age of man (7x)= 7*4 =28 years
Result : age of man now = 28 years
