Question 910659: Mary's grandmother is 2 times as old as Mary's mom. Twenty years ago the ratio of their ages was 3:1. How old is Mary's grandmother now?
Answer by JulietG(1812)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
G = 2M
G-10 = 3(M-10)
G-10 = 3M - 30
2M - 10 = 3M - 30
-10 = M - 30
40 = M
If the mother is 40, then the grandmother is 80.
20 years ago, the mother was 20 and the grandmother was 60.
