Karen is 6 years older than her sister Michelle, and Michelle is 2 years younger than their brother David. If the sum of their ages is 62 , how old is Michelle?
I'm confused. How do I even begin to answer this?
Thanks!
Let Michelle’s current age be M
Then Karen’s is: M + 6, and David’s is: M + 2
Since their ages sum to 62, then:
M + M + 6 + M + 2 = 62
3M + 8 = 62
3M = 62 – 8
3M = 54
M, or Michelle’s current age is: , or
You can do the check!!
