Find their present age
let x = the multiplier
then
4x = Jack's age
and
3x = Jill's age
:
the product of the ages is 432.
4x*3x = 432
12x^2 = 432
x^2 = 432/12
x^2 = 36
x =
x = 6 is the multiplier
then
4 * 6 = 24 yrs is jack's age
3 * 6 = 18 yrs is Jill's age
