Question 889607: Ana is 7 years older than her sister Kathy, and 5 years from now the sum of their ages will be 63. what are the numbers?
Answer by JulietG(1812)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A = K + 7
(A+5) + (K+5) = 63
Substitute the value of A from the first equation into the second.
(K+7)+5 + (K+5) = 63
2K + 17 = 63
Subtract 17 from each side
2K = 46
Divide each side by 2
K = 23
If Kathy is 23, then Ana is 30.
In 5 years, Kathy will be 28 and Ana will be 35.
28 + 35 = 63
