Let x represent John's age ⇒ is Sue's age
Question States*** Sue is 9 years older than twice John's age.
(48-x) = 2x + 9
39 = 3x
x = 13, John's age. Sue is 35
CHECKING our answer*** Sue is 9 years older than twice John's age
35= 2•13 + 9 = 26 + 9 = 35
