Let the mother' age and the son's age be x and y
x+y = 30 --- 1
after 24 years
y+24 = 1/2(x+24)
x -2y = 24 ----2
solving 1&2 we have
x + y = 30
x - 2y = 24
==========
3y = 6
y = 2
x = 28
Mother's age is 28 and son's age is 2
