Question 831381: I have to translate these phrases into expressions with variables to arrive to the answer of these problem and I don't know how, I know the answer is: Vietnamese 1,300,000 and Chinese 2,600,000 would somebody be so kind of telling me how to get to this answer.
Problem:
According to a us census bureau survey in 2009, about half as many people in the united states spoke Vietnamese at home as spoke Chinese. if a total of about 3,900,000 people spoke these languages in their homes, how many spoke Vietnamese and how many spoke Chinese?
