a = c - 4
c-7= 2(a-7)

Substitute for "a" and solve for "c":
c-7 = 2(c-4-7)
c-7 = 2c-22
c = 15 (Carlos' age now)

Solve for "a":
a = c - 4
a = 15-4
a = 11 yrs (Amy's age now)
