So, I tried to find a solution.

father 46-x
son x
4x+3+x+3=46-x+x
5x+6=46 (I omitted the -x and the x)
5x=46-6
5x=40
x=40/5
x=8
So the son is 8 years old and the father is 46-8=38.
Actually, my question is - is my solution right (correct)?
