Joyce is twice the age of her brother Pepe
J = 2P
Five years ago, the sum of their ages was 59.
(J - 5) + (P - 5) = 59
J - 5 + P - 5 = 59
Replace J with 2P from
first equation;
2P - 5 + P - 5 = 59
Collect like terms;
3P = 59 + 10
3P = 69
P = 23
Currently:
Pepe is 23 years old
Joyce is 46 years old
