Question 787647: Jim is 6 years older than twice Sue's age. The sum of their ages is 72. How old is Jim?
Answer by Cromlix(4381) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Jim is 6 years older than twice Sue's age.
J = 6 + 2S
The sum of their ages is 72.
J + S = 72
Replace J with (6 + 2S) from first equation.
6 + 2S + S = 72
3S = 72 - 6
3S = 66
S = 22
Sue is 22 years old
Jim is 50 years old.
Hope this helps.
