The ages of A and B are in the ratio 5:3.
Let x = the multiplier, then
5x = A's age
and
3x = B's age
:
After 6 years, their will be in the ratio 7:5.
=
cross multiply
5(5x+6) = 7(3x+6)
25x + 30 = 21x + 42
25x - 21x = 42 - 30
4x = 12
x = 12/4
x = 3 is the multiplier
:
Then the present age of A is: 5*3 = 15 yrs
