Let Steven's age be x
Then Robert's age is (2*x - 5)
Analyse the second statement step by step, and form the algebraic expression for
each:

1) Robert's age 5 years ago = current age - 5 = 2*x - 5 - 5 = 2*x - 10
2) Twice Robert's age 5 years ago = 2*(2*x - 10) = 4*x - 20
3) Steven's age in 3 years = x + 3
4) So, 4 more than Steven's age in 3 years = x + 3 + 4 = x + 7
The above 2 are given to be equal. So the equation is

Steven's age = 
Robert's age = 2*x - 5 = 18 - 5 =
