Average age is 46 years
Hence total age = 46*3 = 138
Minimum age of each is 40 years.
When 2 of the 3 people are at the minimum age, the 3rd would have to be at the maximum age, to maintain the average.
So, when 2 people are at 40, their combined age = 40 + 40 = 80, and the total age is still 138.
Hence the 3rd person's age = 138 - 80 = 58.
58 is the maximum age of any one man. Note that if one of them were to be *above* 58, then one of the other 2 would have to be *less than* 40 to maintain the average. Since the minimum age is given as 40, the maximum age of any one man is .
