Question 762770: A man's age and his son's age add to 45 years. Five years ago the man was 6 times as old as his son. How old was the man when his son was born? Answer by EricWRX(2) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! So if it's 5 years ago, the two ages add to 35.
We can say that x=the son's age. the father is 6x older than the son when their ages add up to 35.
6x+x=35
7x=35
x=5
father is 6(5)=30 son is 5
30-5=25
The father was 25 when the son was born.
