Let S = Son's current age
Dissect the question to get your equations
(M-2) = 7(S-2) #1
(M+3) = 4(S+3) #2
From #1 M = 7S-12
Sub above into #2
7S-9=4S+12
3S=21
S=7
Sub S into #1
M-2=7(7-2)
M=37
So the man's current age is 37 years old and his son's age is 7 years old
