Jan is twice as old as jake.
let jake is x yrs then jan is 2x
The sum of their age is 5 less than twice of jan's age.
so x+2x=2*2x-5
or 3x=4x-5
or x=5
so 2x=10
then jan is 10 and jake is 5 yrs
